Our research activities include initial presentations of opportunities of new technologies, innovation and IPR protection, design and specification, practical prototyping within a comprehensive testbed, qualitative and quantitative evaluations and intuitive demonstrations, algorithms and optimizations, integration and inter-operability.

Our projects highly span as time-to-market (from new technologies up to product prototypes), duration and resources involved both for direct projects as well as for projects with a large number of partners. OpenNEMI is available under a paid licensing model.

For more information, prices, as well as a customized offer including all the licensing terms, please contact us with your requirements via email. When you require additional equipment, such as TSN endpoints or a 5G core networks, we would be happy to assist you towards building your comprehensive testbed.

Best-effort support for using the software is offered with each license and additional technical support bundles are available upon request. Additional features, components or extensions can be developed under the umbrella of defined R&D projects with Fraunhofer FOKUS.


Further, for providing a speed-up on the new AI technologies, we are offering an extended set of tutorials and training sessions, customized to your expectations, including intuitive introductions into technology and the analysis of its acceptance from a market and a standardization. Apart from this, hands-on sessions on how to install, customize, understand and further extend the source code.

Use Case Customization

For each of the OpenNEMI licenses, a set of best-practice configurations is provided, enabling the immediate and intuitive demonstrations and practical know-how accumulation. For assessing other implementation architectures, the configuration can be further customized based on the documentation companion.

To further develop your ideas, components, architecture and solutions, targeting an open data ecosystem, the OpenNEMI source code is designed to be easily extended with new interfaces, protocols, state machines and policy based decisions.

Additionally, OpenNEMI follows a full modular design, thus being a suitable counterpart in realizing a complete testing environment for the development of new prototypes and products or for realizing comprehensive testbeds by integrating only a part of the overall components.

Consulting and Training

For industry acceptance of open data sharing technologies, apart from the development of the technology itself, there is a strong need for creating a high level of trust. With our very large experience and market orientation into developing new technologies with practical applicability, we are able to provide the following consultancy services as an addition to the basic research activities:

  • Development of methodologies for assessing in the appropriate environment of the new data ecosystem including the definition of metrics and benchmarks, certifying the quality of a specific solution.
  • End-to-end benchmarking of specific solutions on top of different hardware platforms, with different software configurations.
  • Development of comprehensive evaluation frameworks, proving the specific value added of a solution from an independent evaluator.
  • Integration of the given prototypes, components or solutions within a complete ecosystem in order to be able to perform the end-to-end benchmarking.
  • Future-proof evaluations for products and solutions, for reducing the investment on updates and increasing the runtime duration for specific solutions.
  • Technology adoption roadmaps and integration with legacy components.
